Our chief want is someone who will inspire us to be what we know we could be.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
I once opened a fortune cookie with the message, “Someone you know believes in you.” Since I don’t put any credence in fortune cookies, I was surprised to find myself warmed by that thought. We all want to know someone is pulling for us. And that desire doesn’t diminish with age. What a great fortune it is when someone inspires us to become what we know we can be. What an even greater fortune it is to be that person for someone else.
Your thoughts? How have you been inspired by someone who believed in you?
When we left the “corporate” world to enter into full-time missionary status with Campus Crusade there were so many friends and family who told us they believed in us by standing with us prayerfully and financially. Those acts were inspiring and taken as “words of encouragement” to our adventure. And, they were acts of inspiration that have helped fuel us even when times have been challenging.
Hey Jeff! So glad you commented on this post in particular. You ARE one of those dudes who’s inspired me forward in my journey and I thank you for that!
