A good definition of courage

Here’s a good definition of courage my wife passed along to me, just when I needed it.

  1. Great concept! Quiet courage.
I’ve been pondering lately how much courage is required to do new things–or even start again tomorrow.
A friend shared this quote from Samuel Beckett with me this week:
“Ever tried? Ever failed? No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better. You won’t believe what you can accomplish by attempting the impossible with the courage to repeatedly fail better.”
I like the “fail better” challenge–I can do that.

  2. Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.
    -Winston Churchill

    • Churchill was a pretty wise dude. Sitting down and listening is definitely a quiet courage. Thanks for sharing that one Phil. I’m going to add it to my list of inspiring quotes.

  3. Courage is being afraid but saddling up anyway. – John Wayne

My own definition would be “To be a man in all circumstances.” There’s a lot to think about with that definition.
